CCMP471 was cryopreserved on Mar 9 2006 using 12% DMSO as a cryoprotectant.
The time required to regrow this culture, prior shipping, is approximately 20 days. If interested, please contact the CCMP for the cryopreservation methods (freezing and/or thawing protocols).
Note that aquaculture strains are always maintained as actively growing cultures, even if also cryogenically stored. Therefore, aquaculture strains (see aquaculture express ordering on the CCMP home page) can be shipped immediately upon request.

Q: Can the curator advise on a different strain that is easy to grow, grows atroom temperature and is a fast grower?
A: CCMP471 is the only Leyanella we have. If your only criteria are temp, fast growth and ease of maintenance I would recommend our aquaculture(AQ) strains. They are all maintained at 20C in the AQ incubator, even if the original culture is maintained at 14 or 24.
